Does ceramic coating make my car scratch-proof?

Scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof. The 9H+ hardness resists swirl marks, light abrasions, and minor scratches — but a hard enough impact can still scratch through. It's dramatically better than bare paint, but not invincible.

How long does the appointment take?

Standard sedans take 4–6 hours. SUVs and trucks run 6–8 hours. We come to your home — you don't need to arrange transportation or be anywhere. Just have a shaded area available.

Do I need to prep my car?

Just have a shaded area available — a garage is ideal. Don't wash the car in the 24 hours before we arrive. That's it. We bring everything: water, power, products, and lighting equipment.

Can I wash my car after coating?

No water contact for the first 24 hours. Avoid touchless washes for 7 days (full cure). After that, wash normally. We'll give you the full care schedule before we leave your property.

My car has swirls — is that a problem?

Not at all. Our 1-step paint correction corrects light imperfections before coating. Deeper damage may need additional correction, which we quote separately. We assess everything on the day of your appointment.

What's the difference between Select, Signature, and Reserve?

Select is a 2-year coating covering the essentials: decontamination, paint correction, and ceramic protection. Signature steps up to a 6-year coating and adds glass coating. Reserve is our complete package — glass, trim, and wheel-face coating, two maintenance washes, and your choice of a 6-year or 10-year coating. Pricing for all three varies by vehicle size.

Is the warranty actually honored?

Yes — because we're an authorized System X applicator, every coating is registered in your name under the manufacturer's warranty. You get physical warranty documentation before we leave.

Why is DIY ceramic worse?

Consumer kits have 5–15% active SiO₂ and are diluted for safe DIY use. Professional System X has significantly higher concentrations and requires proper surface prep. The real-world longevity gap is dramatic.

Serving San Diego County

Professional Ceramic Coating,
Delivered to Your Door

Prestige Detail brings professional ceramic coating directly to your home, anywhere in San Diego County. From San Marcos to the coast and everywhere in between — our fully self-contained mobile setup means you never have to drop your car off or rearrange your day.

San Diego's mix of intense inland heat and coastal salt air puts real, daily stress on unprotected paint. Bare clear coat breaks down faster than most owners realize. Ceramic coating creates a permanent, hydrophobic barrier — keeping your paint protected for years, not weeks.

Our Process

How It Works

Every step is included in your package price. Nothing is skipped.

Decontamination Wash

Two-bucket hand wash, clay bar, and iron decontamination spray. Your paint must be completely clean before any work begins.

~45 minutes

1-Step Paint Correction

Machine polish to correct light swirl marks, water spots, and oxidation. Ceramic seals in the finish — so we maximize it before we lock it in permanently.
